Closing date for applications for in area and out of area children to sit the main selection tests in September 2026.

 

September 2026

Year 6 letter from the council sent via child’s primary school regarding the secondary application process. Parents without internet access are required to contact the council for information.

12 September 2026

Latest date the application round to apply for a secondary school for September 2027 will open.

TBC September 2026

Selection test date for Ripon Grammar School for entry in September 2027 (Saturday). The confirmed date will be published on the NYC website by April 2026

19 October 2026

Latest date that parents will be notified of selection test results.

31 October 2026

Closing date for return of secondary Common Application Forms.

16 November 2026

Receive information about applicants resident outside North Yorkshire expressing preferences for schools within North Yorkshire area from other Local Authorities.

Provide other local authorities information about applicants expressing preferences for schools in their area.

 

30 November 2026

Final date for receipt of any change to a common application form including a change of address

30 November 2026

Provide details of all preferences expressed for North Yorkshire

academies, voluntary aided, foundation and trust schools to the schools for consideration and ranking in accordance with their admission arrangements.

30 November 2026 to 10 January 2027

Voluntary aided, foundation and trust schools to rank lists of all preferences according to their over subscription criteria for return to the council no later than 11th January 2027.

11 January 2027

 

 

Final date for all ranked lists to be returned to the council

22 January 2027

First exchange of information sent to other local authorities identifying potential allocations for applicant’s resident outside of North Yorkshire. .

22 January 2027

First exchange of information received from neighboring admission authorities including academies, voluntary aided, foundation and trust schools for residents in North Yorkshire area.

29 January 2027

Last date by which voluntary aided and academy schools can notify the council of any increase in the number of places to be allocated on National Offer Day.  This is to allow the council sufficient time to deliver its co-ordination responsibilities effectively.

 

The number of places offered cannot be set below the Published Admission Number (PAN).   

 

5 February 2027

Second exchange of allocation information sent to other authorities.

15 February 2027

Final exchange of confirmed allocation information sent to other authorities

28 February 2027

Deadline for publication of admission appeals timetable

1 March 2027

National offer day. Allocation information sent to North Yorkshire parents who applied for a school place.

Schools informed of their final allocation.

16 March 2027 to 31

August 2027

The start of manual adjustments to the allocation and communication of those results to other authorities and schools.

April 2027 to July 2027

Statutory admission appeals are heard for on time applicants
